A New York City Council Subcommittee has denied the designation of 135 Bowery as a landmark.  This important Federalist building dates to 1817 and is a rare example of early 19th century architecture on the Bowery.  Just this past June, the Landmarks Preservation Commission designated the Hardenbrook Somarindyck House as an individual landmark however the City Council as part of the review process can overturn a LPC designation.  If you believe this sets a dangerous precedent contact your New York City Council Member.
