In November, current students and alumni of the Historic Preservation Program mingled under the magnificent coffered ceiling of the Veterans Room at the Park Avenue Armory. It was clearly apparent that many of us are engaged in some very exciting preservation-related projects. In fact, the very building in which we were gathered is currently undergoing substantial rehabilitation, much involving the expertise and handiwork of many of our fellow alumni. They include Kirsten Reoch, Senior Project Director for the Armory; Bridgitte Cook, Project Architect with Platt Byard Dovell White (PBDW); Debora Barros, also with PBDW; Ray Pepi, principal-in-charge of the conservation consultant firm Building Conservation Associates (BCA); Claudia Kavenagh, project manager with BCA; Erica Morasset and Amanda Stauffer, team members with BCA; Chris Girr, project architect with Walter B. Melvin Architects, the exterior restoration consultant; and Lizzie Olson, project member for Robert Silman Associates, the structural engineer. Congrats to the Columbia Preservation team for their great work!
